Being from New England and being family owned is a winning combination. It means we strive to maintain a warm and friendly atmosphere while serving fresh, local food. It also means we love Thanksgiving. There’s just something about gathering around the table, surrounded by people you love and delicious food that makes us all warm and fuzzy. But it’s not all about the food, or football. Choosing a drink that goes perfectly with your meal is half of the fun! We’ve put together this list so you can pick something that will round out your holiday in the perfect way. Happy Thanksgiving from your favorite New England pub!
The Brewer’s Association (they know their stuff) says you should pair traditionally cooked turkey with Amber ale or Oktoberfest, while smoked turkey perfectly complements a Scotch Ale or porter. If you’re a little less traditional and like ham, try washing it down with a dark lager. And don’t forget about dessert! Have a tall pint of spiced or winter ale while you top off with a slice of pumpkin pie. Coming from a New England pub, you can’t go wrong with a Sam Adams.
Unlike beer, what wine pairs best with certain foods is a more widely known topic. But it also has a lot to do with individual preference. If you’re hosting, consider serving both white and red varieties, so you have something for everyone. Reisling and Pinot Grigio are the top whites for the occasion, while Pinot Noir and Zinfandel are great reds to have with a plate of Thanksgiving goodies.
You’ve probably seen the recipes floating around social media about various Thanksgiving and holiday cocktails. The truth is, you can’t go wrong with traditional fall flavors. Pumpkin, cinnamon, spices, and cranberries are all favorite additions to a beautiful fall punch. Apple cider martinis and anything with pumpkins are guaranteed to be a hit.
Thanksgiving is a great time to sit back and appreciate everything you have to be thankful for. Here at our family New England pub, we’re thankful for delicious food, Tom Brady, and of course our loyal customers. Check out our menu here, or stop by for a drink!
